Add a bill once and Figa places it in every month it is due. Rent, a phone plan, a yearly insurance or a weekly lesson all work the same way.

Create a recurring bill

  1. Select Add expense, enter the name and amount.
  2. Turn on Recurring expense.
  3. Set the Series start: the date of the first bill.
  4. Under Recurrence, choose the frequency and, under Every, how many of them, for example every 2 months.
  5. Choose the End condition and save.
A summary like this appears under the schedule before you save.
Try it with your own bills. Free, no card. Do it in Figa →

Frequencies

FrequencyOptionsExample
DailyEvery N daysA daily parking fee
WeeklyEvery N weeks, on chosen Days of weekLessons every Tuesday and Thursday
MonthlyA Day of month, or a Pattern such as the first MondayRent on the 1st
QuarterlyEvery N quartersA quarterly service charge
YearlyEvery N yearsCar insurance each March

When it ends

  • Never: it repeats until you stop it. You can pause or end it later.
  • After X occurrences: a set number of payments, like 12 installments. See Installments.
  • On a specific date: it stops after that date, like a contract that ends in June.

Fixed, variable or per visit

Under How is the amount determined? choose:

  • Fixed amount: the same every time.
  • Variable monthly bill: for monthly bills that change, like gas or electricity. Figa estimates each one until you enter the invoice. See Variable bills and forecasts.
  • Price per session: for a service paid per visit. Available when you create the bill. See Services billed per visit.

Change one month or all future ones

When you edit an occurrence of a recurring bill, Figa asks which occurrences to change:

  • This occurrence only: this month's bill was different.
  • This and future occurrences: the price changes from now on. Earlier months keep their amounts.
  • All occurrences: correct the whole series.

Changing the schedule itself needs This and future occurrences or All occurrences. Editing a series can replace changes you made to single occurrences for the same fields; Figa warns you before it does.

Deleting works the same way: you choose whether to delete one occurrence, this and future ones, or the whole series. To turn one occurrence into a normal expense, use Make one-time: Only this expense, or This expense and stop repeating.

Skip one occurrence

If a bill does not come this time, open the row menu and choose Skip this occurrence. It stays in the list marked Skipped, no payment is expected for it, and the rest of the series is unchanged. Choose Restore to bring it back.

Attach a contract or an invoice

When you add a file to a recurring bill, choose This occurrence only for a monthly invoice, or All occurrences for a contract or terms that apply to the whole series. Files can be PDF, JPG or PNG, up to 10 MB each.

Recurring bills on the Free plan

Free includes 20 expenses a month, and every occurrence counts. When you add a recurring bill, Figa shows about how many expenses it adds per month. See Free or Pro?
